About

Me?  My story?  It was a dark and rainy night......  Just kidding.  My guitar story begins back in 1983, when I got my first axe.  It wasn't the best, but sure looked cool.  It was a Harmony Flying V from the Sears Christmas catalog.  Surprisingly, it wasn't all that bad.  I immediately began my guitar lessons in January 1984 at Buddy Rogers Music on Beechmont Ave in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Yeah, back in those days--we actually took face-to-face lessons!  I took basic rock lessons for the first year to get the fundamentals.  After that, I took classical lessons with a few jazz classes sprinkled in every other week.  Randy Rhoads and George Lynch were my main influences.  After 2 years with that Flying V, and my guitar chops getting better--I upgraded to a Kramer Focus 1000.  This was my first guitar with a Floyd Rose, and I had to learn through trial and error on the proper way to change strings and intonate the damn thing.   Over the next several years between learning and playing in bands, I began tinkering with guitars.  I began modifying the pickups, pots, hardware and anything else I thought would improve the guitars I had.  In June 1990, I raised my right hand to support and defend the US Constitution by joining the US Air Force.  While globe-trotting my way through the Air Force, I got into refinishing guitars.  Flash-forward a few more years, and I'm into building my own guitars.  A few years later, and I'm into modifying effects pedals--then building my own circuits.    After retiring from the Air Force in January 2013, I decided to put all of my guitar building and modifying experience to good use--for others.  This brings us to Spectre Guitars.

Spectre Guitars are not "assembly line" pieces, nor DIY kits.  They are custom built guitars the way you want them.  You can also get stock models right out of the box--still not mass produced guitars, but rather "stock customs."  These models are still great guitars with top-notch features--just without all of the fancy upgrades and custom options.  How many times have you gone out, bought a guitar--and started loading up on a bunch of other parts to upgrade your new prize with?  Spectre Guitars eliminates the need for you to do that.  You choose the options you want: finish, hardware, pickups, fingerboard, headstock, etc.

Spectre Effects made in a similar fashion to the Spectre Guitars.  Just tell us what you want, and we'll make it happen.  Please visit the appropriate pages for details.
